Título: Pós consumo de lâmpadas fluorescentes na região metropolitana de Belém, Pa.
Autor(es): ABDON, Bárbara Uena do Nascimento; NEU, Vânia
Abstract: Fluorescent lamps are present in the lives of many people, however few know of the risk that these lamps can bring. Flourescent lamps contain highly toxic residues and for this reason, the disposal of this residue must be appropriate and safe following the necessary disposal processes. To understand the post-consumer logistics of fluorescent lamps in Belém and Ananindeua cities, Pará Estate, we visited establishments that sell flourescent lamps, applied questionnaires to consumers in the region, and evaluated the information contained in the
packaging of the most common commercialized fluorescent lamps in the region. The packages were evaluated for the presence and legibility of information regarding the composition of the product, degree of
dangerousness, handling care and warnings about damage to health and the environment. Regarding the receipt of this waste, we found that only 21.5% of the companies visited have collectors for the waste in question, and no establishment currently implements educational campaigns for their correct disposal. In the studied cities, the number of consumers who correctly dispose of the lamps is still low at only 23.7%. At 55.3% the number of people who do not look for information on the packaging labels is high. Therefore, our recommendation to consumers is to choose lamps with less environmental impact, to manufacturers our
recommendation is to ensure compliance with legislation and improve clarity of information on product labels.
