Abstract: This theoretical study has as main subject to talk about the role of the pedagogical coordinator in the face of school challenges, as well as the directions that this professional can take to work in partnership with other teachers, educators, managers and students seeking to implement an educational management, which we call of democratic. We tried to describe possible contributions to this work, with the help of bibliographic research as a method to carry it out. In order to define what democratic management is, the role and support of the coordinator, as well as the improvements and difficulties that normally occur, these being the objectives of the same. And as a result, it was noticed that the work of the school coordinator has been changing over time and continuously, in order to face the challenges that the school encounters and how it adapts to this new management model. The positive points for the implementation were more important than the negative points.</description>
