This study aimed to diagnose aspects of milk production in three municipalities in Arari region in the Marajó. 40 questionnaires were applied to the main buffalo milk producers. The questions raised about herd characteristics in the properties, producers profile and the possible limitations involving milk production. It was observed that 50% of the milk producers have been producing milk for more than 20 years with the familiar knowledge passed through generations. The production of buffalo milk is the only activity in 80% of interviewed farms and contributes significantly to the socioeconomic development of these municipalities. However, producers do not control production indices of the animals seeing that 80% of them produce in a short period of the year. In addition, the lack of planning activities allows the shortage of forage caused by a dry period affects the productivity of the livestock. Therefore, the climatic factors associated with lack of information and technical support in the buffalo milk production systems limits the growth of dairy farming in the municipalities of Cachoeira do Arari, Soure and Santa Cruz do Arari. The diagnosis is often difficult, due to exposure to various drugs, however, histopathologic examination can be a tool in these cases. Treatment consists of discontinuation of medication administered, and in severe cases, more specific intervention is required. We report the occurrence of a skin reaction in a canine breed dachshund, after intramuscular administration of an antibiotic, in which intense itching and edema of the face, lesions are common in these cases.
