Based on the literature of the Information Sciences of authors who talk about the experiences in the construction of repositories. We have related four experiences of building institutional repositories of federal universities present in five published articles, one of which shows the evolution of the repository, which allows us to know the practices used in this implementation process, in which the authors and managers are involved in the process of building the repository; need to standardize authors for the repository; repository policy; center support and data processing; pilot space to test the epository; In addition, among the observed repositories, three of them have as a necessity the involvement of authors and managers in the process of building the repository. It is concluded that based on the experiences reported, reduces the risk of errors and improves performance in the activities developed in the construction of Institutional Repositories. It aims to describe the solidarity actions and the incentive to read, emphasizing the importance and the necessity of acting of the university libraries on the campuses outside of headquarters, because there is the lack in the interiors. It emphasizes that the library must go beyond the walls of the university, allowing interaction with the external community. In this context, two campaigns of solidarity (Christmas campaign solidarity) and partnerships such as the one held with the caravan of reading, which allowed playful activities of incentive to read with two public schools children, in addition to the partnership between the University and the municipality in the dissemination of information on the care of pregnancy and the baby. Thus, the University library demonstrates its social role for the internal and external community of the university, contributing to human development.
